Heather Hallett

Heather Hallett

Founder & Director

Heather Hallett is a local organizer and proud mother of 3 children who has been advocating for gun violence prevention measures for many years in Georgia. In 2023, with the help of Rep. Becky Evans, she founded the Georgia Majority for Gun Safety to bring together the numerous and diverse groups who advocate for gun violence prevention legislation in Georgia. Heather is leading this coalition to bring about strength in numbers and enable groups to amplify each others' efforts toward making Georgia a safer place to live and raise a family. Heather also serves on the board for Leap Year, a local educational non-profit working on both literacy and college enrollment, and the Piedmont Park Conservancy.

Mike Greenwald

Mike Greenwald

Co-Chair

Mike is co-Chair of Georgia Majority for Gun Safety (GMGS). He is a Pediatric Emergency Medicine physician in the Atlanta area and co-founded Georgia Clinicians for Gun Safety (GC4GS), an integral part of GMGS since its inception. His advocacy work includes organizing the daily lobbying sessions at the state Capitol ("Face to Face"), organizing our GMGS Town Hall outreach efforts and lobbying at the US Capitol through On Call For Kids, a national advocacy group of Pediatricians working to reduce gun violence. Like so many of his clinician colleagues, Mike is motivated by the daily reality of needless injury, suffering and death due to the epidemic of gun violence in Georgia. He is committed to help change the trajectory of this crisis by mobilizing our collective efforts to implement evidenced based solutions.

Susan McCarthy Furman

Secretary

Susan McCarthy Furman is a clinical psychologist with a decades-long commitment to access to affordable mental health care in Georgia for those most in need. Training the next generation of mental health professionals has been a large part of her career. Improving gun safety funding and legislation protects all Georgians, especially those with serious mental illness (most likely to be victims of gun violence) or suicidal ideation (most likely to die with gun access in an acute episode). Serving on the GMGS board as secretary and membership committee chair, as well as a member of the Georgia Clinicians for Gun Safety, provides opportunities to promote agreement among diverse consituents for a safer Georgia.

Committee Chairs

Nicole Horn

Nicole Horn

Legislative Committee Chair

Nicole is a successful entrepreneur and activist. But it's her job as a mom to two great kids that led her to become more involved in Georgia Majority. Keeping her children safe from gun violence, which has stolen so many of our kids, is unacceptable when it's so preventable. She's proud to serve as the Legislative Committee chair.
